Veganuary

January mission:VEGANUARY

January is a time where all the FAD diets reappear. Veganism has reached a lot of popularity due to the benefits it has on the planet and welfare of animals. Although, can sometimes be misconstrued as a diet/route for weight loss. It is essential to proclaim that veganism is a lifestyle choice NOT a diet.

This is based on the reasons that being vegan opting for a plant-based diet is based on the moral foundation to promote sustainability and protect the welfare of animals. Veganism isn't for everyone although perhaps adapting your diet to limit meat intake will help to sustain the planet i.e cutting out meat 1-2 days a week. There are a multitude of benefits which go alongside vegansim. Despite this, this can also be taken to extremities which is important to be careful of. Ensuring your diet is reaching the correct protein intake.

Secondarily to this a diet which is excessively labelled vegan friendly may not always be healthy, a few products out there are replacing meat with processed sugar, additives and preservatives. Therefore, a diet which doesn't contain animal products may not always be a healthy choice and can lack nutrients . Ensure that you always read the ingredients listed on the back of the pack. As you can be an unhealthy vegan!
Here is an example;
Vegan saffron smoothie to kick start your day (full recipe on previous blog post).
